Burnin’
2026 LP

Burnin’ is imagined as Subtle Burn’s 1963 release, a piano trio record that pushes beyond the warmth and restraint of Kindling into something sharper, hotter, and more rhythmically charged. Still melodic and intimate, it carries more bite at the edges, with stronger rhythmic drive, deeper blues feeling, and a greater sense of swagger. Rooted in early-60s hard bop and soul-jazz, the album moves between smoky piano lines, simmering grooves, brisk swing, and late-night cool, keeping the trio’s atmosphere intact while sounding more confident, kinetic, and alive.

Within the larger Subtle Burn arc, Burnin’ feels like the moment the group’s identity comes into clearer focus. If Kindling is the first spark, Burnin’ is the flame catching — a record that deepens the band’s character while hinting at the harmonic and rhythmic expansion still to come. The title fits both the music and its place in the imagined discography: not explosive, but smoldering with energy, groove, and intent. Created through an AI-based process but guided by a strong musical point of view, Burnin’ is meant to feel like a believable 1963 release, grounded in its era while already carrying the unmistakable voice of Subtle Burn.
